THE HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH

Maybe it is time to copy the hidden years of Jesus in Nazareth, the family years of grace humility and love, rather than a material Christmas. .

| Abraham is promised a miraculous birth for Sarah and many, many descendants. Abraham trusts God even further, ready to sacrifice Isaac, the son God gave them, sure that God will rescue both father and son from the terrible demand from God. His faith and perseverance, right to the end, are a model for all Christians to follow. Simeon, awaiting Abraham’s vision, attends the Temple and welcomes the Holy Family. Simeon is certainly the right person, in the right place, at the right time. Mary receives Simeon’s prophecy and warning enough for her to think on for decades. Jesus is, without doubt, described as being the right person who did the right thing. Have you ever been the right person in the right place at the right time? Did you follow the nudging of the Holy Spirit and do the right thing? Was it easy? | ||

MARY, THE MOTHER OF GOD. Tomorrow, Monday, 1st of January 2024, is the feast of the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God. She gained this title, her greatest title, by courageously saying ‘Yes’ to God’s plan. She is also our Mother. From the Cross itself, Jesus shared his Mother with us. Graphic copyright, Netta Ewing.

MARY’S MEALS; “DOUBLE THE LOVE INITIATIVE”.
It is not too late to Donate. Your prayers are powerful and now your donations are doubled. In the campaign ‘Double the Love is Here’. Until 22 January 2024, donations will be matched (by a group of generous donors), up to a total of £1M. So, £19.15 will now be able to feed two children for a school year, instead of just one child.

Prof. Elaine Moohan reveals music heard in Glasgow Cathedral up to and beyond the Reformation; the ‘Opening of the Vita Kentigerni’: readings and song in praise of St Mungo at the Mitchell Library and a concert in honour of Saints Mungo, Ninian and Brigid performed by Alan Tavener with the Strathclyde University Chamber Choir.
