| Exodus records the ‘primitive’, but really well thought out, laws of Judaism, which emphasise the principle that anyone, anyone, in need of help, even foreigners, widows and orphans should be helped. After all God helped the Jewish slaves in Egypt. Jesus would later say, “You must love your neighbour as yourself.” Paul reminds the Thessalonians, and us, that we all await the return of Jesus. When He does, we will be so filled with a great longing to join Him, but at the same time know that without the cleaning of Purgatory, we are not fit to enter under His roof and be embraced by Our Lord and King. Matthew recounts that after the Sadducees had been silenced by Jesus, the Pharisees determined to gang up on Jesus. However, in answer to their devious question He simply tells them to be unselfish in their love, to turn towards God Himself and copy their Creator. Thus, they are to be generous in their giving, focused on the well-being and happiness of the receiver of their giving. How willing are we to help the outcast, the homeless, the foreigner? How do we properly ascertain and effectively interact with those in need, to make them whole? | ||

THE SUNDAY CAFÉ IS OPEN. All are welcome to the Sunday Café after Mass. Today we celebrate our patron saint, St Jude, who’s feast was yesterday. You are encouraged to give donations to cover expenses and help towards charity.
NOVEMBER IS THE MONTH WHEN WE PRAY FOR THE FAITHFULL DEPARTED. Masses are said for the names submitted on the November List envelopes. Which can be found on the table at the back of the church.

The Month of the Holy Souls starts with the great feast of All Saints, a Holiday of Obligation. Service times as shown overleaf. All Souls, a day of remembrance and prayer for the dead, has very fitting readings full of consolation for those left behind. We are given this month as a privilege and opportunity to offer up masses, Communions and prayers for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory. They rely on us, because they can do nothing for themselves.
Who, in Purgatory, is waiting for you to pray for them? If you haven’t made it a point to pray for the Poor Souls in the past, please make up your mind to do so this year.
POPE FRANCIS CALLED FOR A DAY OF PRAYER & FASTING FOR PEACE ON FRIDAY 27th OCTOBER 2023.May we continue to ask for peace in our time, peace in our world. May we choose one side, that of peace, not of war.

Please join the Circle of Friends in praying for the children who have been preparing for this Sacrament. May the Holy Spirit strengthen and inspire them as they continue to grow in their spiritual life.
