Reading 1: Isaiah 2: 1-5
Isaiah presents a vision of future peace, the peace of God’s kingdom, when the whole world will come together and will no longer be involved in conflict.
Psalm (121) Response: City of peace, home of the peoples, calling the nations to God.
The pilgrims go up, in joy, to Jerusalem praying for peace.
Reading 2: Romans 13: 11-14
Paul encourages his readers to ‘wake up’ and change their ways, for salvation is near at hand. Only then can we ‘live in the light’.
Gospel Acclamation: Let us see, O Lord, your mercy and give us your help.
Gospel: Matthew 24: 37-44
In the Gospel Jesus urges us to stay awake and be ready. We need to be prepared, for when He comes

THE POPE’S WORLDWIDE NETWORK OF PRAYER

We pray for children who are suffering, especially those who are homeless, orphans, and victims of war. May they be granted access to education and the opportunity to experience family affection.

BLESSING OF THE CRIB (Wed, Nov 30th, 6:15 pm)
Venue: George Square. Music at 6:15. Blessing of the crib at 6:30 pm, led by Archbishop Nolan. The Lord Provost will be present, and a Primary School Choir. Sadly, the Circle of Friends children will not be able to go, since their final meeting is that evening. Please see the poster in the porch.
CAROLS FOR PEACE (Sun, Dec 11th, 3:00 pm)
The Lord Provost is hosting the annual Carol Service for Peace, organised by Glasgow Churches Together, in the City Chambers. This marks the twinning of Glasgow and Bethlehem and our prayers for peace in the Holy Land. Contributors will be the St Mungo Singers, Salvation Army Band, South Side Fiddlers, St Denis’ Primary, Trinity High, a Piper, Harpist and a Music Ensemble. Enjoy refreshments afterwards.
CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK (Nov 20-27)
Catholic Education Week this year mirrors Pope Francis’ theme for the whole Church: Communion, Participation and Mission. We pray in gratitude for our schools as they help children become confident, mature and well-rounded individuals, who are aware of Gospel values and try to live these wherever they may be. As a parish we welcome the collaboration of school, parents and parish.

Today is the first Sunday of Advent, the beginning of a new liturgical Year (Cycle A). During Ordinary time, after Advent and Christmastide, the Sunday Gospels are taken from St Matthew’s Gospel.

LITTLE CHRISTMAS for the HOMELESS (Dec 4th) Warm hats, gloves and scarves will be welcome. Baskets will be at the back of the Church on Dec 4th.
RECONCILIATION: A PARISH CELEBRATION
DURING ADVENT we normally have a parish penance service, a celebration of the sacrament of reconciliation together. This year it will be slightly different.
The children preparing for the sacrament of reconciliation will celebrate the sacrament on Saturday, December 3rd, 10:30 am – 12:00 noon. We wish to support them as a parish by having our parish celebration with them. And so, we encourage ALL children who are preparing for the sacraments this year, together with their families and our parishioners, to come together for this Advent parish celebration. It will begin with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and close with a blessing and a hymn. People may arrive and leave when they wish, but there will be refreshments in the hall throughout for those who wish to stay to the end. Further information will follow.
