A VOICE CRIES IN THE WILDERNESS – ‘Prepare a Way for the Lord’
Reading 1: Isaiah 11:1-10
Isaiah describes the shoot springing from the stock of Jesse, that is Jesus. Only Jesus can give the assurance of forgiveness, calm our conflicts and show us God’s concern for each of us.
Psalm (71) God will come to save all nations. Now prepare let Justice flourish. Come Lord Jesus, come in glory. Come Lord Jesus.

St Paul asks his readers to imitate Christ’s generosity, his unconditional love of us.

ADVENT THOUGHT
Today is the second Sunday of Advent, in year cycle A. Father Frances will light the second Advent Candle, as our journey continues into His Light. Last week the focus was on Joy, this week it is on Peace for the future.
Mindful of this week’s readings, we can perhaps look around us and, by word or deed, encourage people to set out on their journey to meet Jesus at Christmas. ARCHDIOCESE
CAROLS FOR PEACE (Sun, Dec 11th, 3:00 pm)
Hosted by the Lord Provost, within Glasgow City Chambers, George Square, by Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Churches Together. Glasgow has been twinned with Bethlehem for some years and prayers will be offered for their needs. A simultaneous streamed service will be held in both Glasgow and Bethlehem.
This event is being ably supported by St Mungo Singers, Salvation Army Band, South Side Fiddlers, St Denis’ Primary, Trinity High, a Piper, a Harpist and a Music Ensemble. You are all invited to turn up, experience and enjoy this event. Refreshments follow.

Staff and pupils of Our Lady of Peace Primary School wrmly invite parishioners to join the for the carol service to be held within our Church, at 6:00 pm on Tuesday December 13th. They look forward to seeing you there.

RECONCILIATION: A PARISH CELEBRATION
DURING ADVENT we normally have a parish penance service, a celebration of the sacrament of reconciliation together. This year it was slightly different.
Congratulations are due to our well-prepared children, who were blessed to receive the sacrament of reconciliation for the first time. Thanks to family, Circle of Friends and all who helped prepare them for reception. Priests were available to provide the opportunity of the sacrament to those who attended. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament was celebrated, the service finishing with a blessing and a hymn. Refreshments were available in the hall throughout for those extended their visit. Many thanks for those who made it a parish family success.
