| REFLECTION |
| During their enforced time in Babylon the Jews came to understand that Israel had been chosen by God to bring his healing not only to the chosen people but to all nations. Paul, talking about the Jews, admits that they may have boxed themselves into a corner by rejecting Jesus, their messiah, God is still looking after them, has not abandoned them. Indeed, since, God shows mercy to all humankind and Jesus’ mercy is boundless, the Jews are still to be saved. . . Matthew echoes Isaiah’s revelation of God’s plan, by narrating how Jesus allows himself be manoeuvred into healing g the daughter of the Canaanite woman. Our God is God of all nations. All who act for God and appreciate him, even if not quite in the way which we do, are to be appreciated and respected for their religion. It is for us to bring Christianity to them, not exclude them from Christ. How has your practice of the faith touched those of other faith, or of none? How do we interact with people of other beliefs – do we exclude, or, as Jesus did, do we accept their understanding of God, trusting that God will gather them in also? |

2023 DIOCESAN MARRIAGE PREPARATION DAYS
The next preparation day for those approaching matrimony will be held soon, next month, on Saturday 16th September 2023 at St Dominic’s, Bishopbriggs. For the coming year, both preparation days will be held in Christ the King, King’s Park, the first on Saturday 24th February 2024, and the second on Saturday 1st June 2024.
MARY’S MEALS – DIRECT DEBITS TRIPLED FOR THREE MONTHS. THE QUEENSHIP OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
During the Middle Ages, Mary was venerated as Queen of the Angels and the Saints. Last century, Pope Pius XII carefully set out her memorial for the Catholic Church, at the close of the Marian Year in 1955. Mary’s Motherhood provides the basis of her dignity in her Son’s eyes. It underlines her unique role in the history of salvation, arising from that initial courageous and trusting ‘Yes!’, which she delivered to the archangel Gabriel at the Annunciation.
