The Transfiguration of the Lord (18th YEAR A) White
6th AUGUST 2023 – (vol.3, p.157) Witnessing the radiant divinity of Christ was, for the apostles, a powerful ‘flash of grace’ that helped sustain the intense trials to come.

| REFLECTION |
| Daniel uses the title ‘son of man’, the only one which Jesus himself would use later of himself, to describe this figure coming on the clouds of heaven and approaching the one of great age – God the Father. The ‘son of man’, clothed in white prefigures Christ ‘s Transfiguration. Daniel witnesses him given sovereignty, glory, and kingship. Peter, referring to the Transfiguration, assures his readers that he is not repeating something that others claimed they had seen or had heard others tell them. Peter gravely repeats that he was there with the others, on the mountain, when God the Father flood lit Jesus’ glory and the source of His divine authority. Matthew clearly narrates the unveiling of the Divinity of Jesus in the company of Moses and Elijah, followed by the revelation from within the cloud. God the Father spoke directly to the disciples. Having filled them with the powerful grace of this revelation, Jesus had lovingly prepared them to persevere through the horrors of Passion Week, a fearful time, now just days away for Jesus. MARY’S MEALS – DIRECT DEBITS TRIPLED FOR THREE MONTHS. Prayers are requested, please, for God’s continued blessings on their work. Those who can are asked to donate by 29th September 2023 by Direct Debit, because generous sponsors have agreed to triple the first three donations you make, thus feeding even more hungry children. Mary’s Meals began by feeding 200 hungry children in a school in Malawi in 2002. Two decades on, they serve a nutritious meal to 2,429, 182 children each and every day.

2023 NATIONAL PILGRIMAGE FOR THE BEATIFICATION OF THE VENERABLE MARGARET SINCLAIR. She was pronounced Venerable in 1978. In 2017 a miracle recovery from cancer by Glasgow’s Monsignor Peter Smith was attributed to her intercession. The pilgrimage will be held on Sunday 17 September from 12:30 pm – 6pm within St Patrick’s Church, Cowgate, Edinburgh, EH1 1NA. 12:30 pm -1:50 pm – Refreshments and sale of candles & goods; 2:00 pm – Holy Hour with Rosary, Confession, Silence, Hymns & Benediction; 3:00 pm – Reflection & Novena Prayers;
