THE SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT (YEAR A) (p.505)
5th MARCH 2023 – THE TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD
At the Transfiguration of Christ God spoke directly to Peter, James and John, up on the mountain . He said: “For this is my Son, the Beloved …. Listen to Him.”
| R 1 | Genesis 12:1-4 | All the tribes of the earth shall bless themselves by you. |
| Psalm | 32 | May your love be upon us, O Lord, as we place all our hope in you. |
| R 2 | 2 Timothy 1:8-10 | God calls and enlightens us. |
| Acclaim | The Gospel | Praise to you, O Christ, King of eternal glory (2) The Father’s voice was heard from the cloud. “This is my Son, the beloved, listen to him, listen to him. |
| Gospel | Matthew 17:1-9 | The Transfiguration – His face shone like the sun. |
Reflect: Peter, James and John are led by Jesus up the mountain. Moses and Elijah were used to meeting God, whose face shone like the sun, up mountains. When they join Him, Jesus is transfigured, and that Heavenly Light unveils His Divinity to his apostles. When His Father confirms from the Cloud that Jesus is His Beloved Son, the apostles are left dumbstruck. How would you react? __________________________________________________________________________________

THE WORLD DAY OF PRAYER 2023 event held within Greyfriars Church on Friday afternoon concentrated on the Christian minority’s experiences in Taiwan. It gave plenty of food for thought. Minister Alistair McLachlan helped focus the attention of those who attended.
