THE SEVENTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME (YEAR A) (p.505)
19th FEBRUARY 2023 – SUNDAY OF THE WORD OF GOD
As far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our sins.
Help us Father, then to show that same forgiveness and compassion which you lavish on us, to those who are our enemies. Amen.
| R 1 | Leviticus 19:1-2, 17-18) | You must love your neighbour as yourself. |
| Psalm | 102 | The love of the Lord, the everlasting love, blesses us all. |
| R 2 | 1 Corinthians 3:16-23 | You belong to Christ and Christ belongs to God. |
| Acclaim | The Gospel | Alleluia, alleluia! … If anyone loves me, he will keep my word and my Father will love him and we shall come to him. … Alleluia! |
| Gospel | Matthew 5:38-48 | Love your enemies. |
Reflect: As in last week’s Gospel, Jesus continues to adjust the Commandments. This challenge is to give up vengeance and instead to follow His example of unconditional forgiveness. Every time we say the Lord’s Prayer, we remind ourselves of His standard. Jesus then strengthens this teaching by instructing us, to love our enemies, not just forgive them. Only by following His way, by fulfilling His plans, can we be truly integrated into His family, along with our Sisters and Brothers. How far are we along His Way.

For parishes
We pray that parishes, placing communion at their centre, may increasingly become communities of faith, fraternity and welcome towards all those most in need.
We remember all those who have died recently; and all those whose anniversaries occur at this time especially Benny (Bernard) Woods, Eddie Deighan senior & Eddie Deighan junior.–
Eternal rest give unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
