THE THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT (YEAR A) (p.259)
12th MARCH 2023 – THE SAMARITAN WOMAN AT THE WELL
May our eyes be opened to the great value of the Sacraments, and especially, today, that of Baptism, the gateway to the rest. May we yearn to drink forever of the waters of eternal life, in the presence of our Saviour and King.
| R 1 | Exodus 17:3-7 | Strike the rock, and water will flow from it. |
| Psalm | 94 | Listen to the voice of God, harden not your hearts. |
| R 2 | Romans 5:1-2,5-8 | The love of God has been poured into our hearts. |
| Acclaim | The Gospel | Glory to you, O Christ, you are the Word of God (2) Lord, you really are the Saviour, the Saviour of the world, Give me the living water that I may never thirst |
| Gospel | John 4:5-42 | A spring of water welling up to eternal life |
Reflect: The Samaritan woman refuses to be teased by Jesus, giving as good as she gets. And in the process uncovers the unquestioned truth that He is the Messiah. Leaving her needed, precious water behind she ran off to share her good news with villagers who were not the best of neighbours in the way they treated her. How would we react if Jesus was as open with us as he was to this unnamed woman? __________________________________________________________________________________
