Sometimes we can be discouraged when we pray for something and our prayers don’t seem to be answered. In today’s Gospel Jesus encourages us to persist in prayer. God will always answer them in some shape or form. Reflect: How has God answered my prayers?

St Andrew’s Cathedral, Saturday, Oct 22nd at 12 noon. The pallium is the symbol of an archbishop’s office and is a gift given and blessed by the Holy Father. All are invited.

PARISH
FEAST OF ST JUDE, OCTOBER 28TH
The feast of St Jude is celebrated in the Church on October 28th. Since this is a Friday, the parish will celebrate the feast after the Sunday Mass on October 30th. There will be special refreshments in the Hall after Mass, together with a tombola raffle, and a lucky dip for children. We are asking parishioners to donate gifts for the tombola and to place them in the baskets which will be at the back of the Church from next Sunday. They may also be given to Margaret McElroy. Thank you! Let’s make an effort to celebrate one of the patron saints of our parish.
PRAYER FOR PEACE: We continue to pray for peace in our world, particularly between Russia and Ukraine; and we pray that we may become agents of peace by becoming people of peace.

CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING and OUR DIALY LIVES.
Immaculate Conception Parish, Maryhill, is offering a series of evenings on what Catholic Social Teaching has to say to us and to leaders of society about our daily lives. This is a very interesting series. Please see poster in the porch.
ST ANDREW’S SECONDARY SCHOOL: If anyone is interested in invigilating exams at St Andrew’s School, they should contact Mrs Lucy Maughan, Acting Deputy Head Teacher by October 21st. (Tel: 0141-582 0240; Email: gw10gallagherlucy@glow.ea.glasgow.sch.uk). Full training will be given by the SQA. Exam dates are as follows: January 9th -20th and April 24th – June 1st, 2023. You are not required to invigilate each day, unless you want to do this.
SPUC, UK is holding a national conference in Glasgow on Oct 29th to come to a greater understanding of why women have an abortion. Details are available from Katherine Hampton (Tel: 01892-542-616; Email: katherinehampton@ spuc.org.uk).
They will also lead their annual torchlight procession on Thursday, 27th October to commemorate 55 years of the passing of the Abortion Act (1967) and to remember the 10 million lives that have been taken over those years. The evening begins in George Square at 6:30 with the recitation of the Rosary, followed at 7:00 pm with a procession to St Andrew’s Cathedral, and closing with Mass at 7:30 pm.
