| REFLECTION | ||
| The primary goal of the Ten Commandments is our Freedom; freedom to direct our energies and attention to those relationships and ways of conduct which protect and nurture our life, both physical and spiritual. It steers us away from what harms ourselves, others and our environment. Paul points out to the errant Corinthians that the ‘foolishness’ of Christ, is in reality, the highest wisdom, and, as such, is much to be valued. We can imitate Jesus’ example in clearing out the Temple, by imploring His aid in cleaning our neglected Sanctuary, our soul, our temple which is meant for the Holy Spirit to dwell in. His righteous anger was channelled to restoring the Temple in Jerusalem to its intended purpose, the worship of the One, True God. When you think about it what freedom(s) touted from the world of advertising, can possibly compare with the freedom and peace of loving God, and loving our neighbour as ourself? How easy is it to recognise those distractions and temptations which hinder our attempts at prayer, fasting and almsgiving? Does it make you want to clear your temple, your personal surrounding of these smothering influences? | ||

REPAIRS UPDATEFor the foreseeable future, Fr Okereke, will be resident in St Maria Goretti’s chapel house in Cranhill, while repairs take place to our chapel house in the oncoming months. Parishioners are asked to check in on its security, now and again, as it has already been broken into. Workmen will be inside during this period.

LENT – what will you do? PRAYER. Lent helps prepare us for that great, Paschal, mystery, the glorious Feast of Easter., through Abstinence, Almsgiving and Prayer. We are given a golden opportunity for parish prayer STATIONS OF THE CROSS – where we can reflect on Christ’s Passion and Death on the Cross. These are held every Friday during Lent at 7:00 pm. Come along this Friday to pray, reflect, respond. Embrace a further spurt of growth as members of His Blessed Church.
LENT – what will you do? ALMSGIVING – SUPPORT THE HALLIDAY FOUNDATION. The Justice and Peace Lenten campaign aims to help the Foundation alleviate poverty, homelessness and hunger in Glasgow’s East End. At this point in Lent, donations are sought of Food Bank items e.g. tea, coffee, sugar etc., for those people who are in Temporary Accommodation and have no access to cooking facilities
