It is difficult to remain faithful to God when there are so many other things in the world calling out to our attention. Liturgical Calendar 2024

Gospel	Mark 1:29-39	He cast out devils and cured many who were suffering from disease.
*REFLECTION*
Job is crushed and worries about the seeming injustice of suffering, especially his own. Despite blaming God he still kept his trust in His creator. Paul is compelled to tell the truth in his preaching for God. However he is careful to be sensitive and caring towards the needs of individuals. Love, for him, is paramount. Jesus heals Simon Peter’s mother-in-law showing his interest in every little detail. He welcomes the opportunity to heal the crowds appearing that night. Everyone is important to Him. It is telling that at the end of this day Jesus goes off to pray to His Father, to re-focus on His mission and recharge His spiritual ‘batteries’, as it were. When has Jesus answered your prayers – for your friends, your family, yourself? Did you ever doubt His concern for you? Did He, by chance, surprise you by doing more that you asked for?

NEW FLOODING DAMAGE TO THE CHAPEL HOUSE The recent cold snap resulted in serious flooding in the chapel house, leaving much of it uninhabitable. The premises are in the process of being inspected to determine what new damage has been inflicted, and what arrangements will have to be put in place for the return of Fr Francis. Your prayers are asked for. The list of damage and repairs required, has therefore, unfortunately much increased. based in St Helen’s Church, 32 Langside Avenue, Glasgow, G41 2QS. All are welcome. Lenten talk consist of night prayer in the church at 7:30 pm then a talk in the church hall with refreshments starting at 8:00 pm. Almsgiving Wed 7th FEB Sr. Eleanor Breen, Congregational Leader of the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, speaking about Almsgiving. Fasting will be covered on Wed 28th FEB by Mairi-Claire McGeady, Representative of RCAG Youth. Prayer is covered on Wed 13th MAR by Bishop John Keenan, of Paisley (Vice-President of the Bishops’ Conference).
