| Isaiah frames this haunting parable of God’s beloved Israel falling into rack and ruin despite all his loving care and constant nourishing presence in their midst. Ezekiel similarly uses this shaming image. Paul finishes off his letter by encouraging his hearers to be ever cheerful, ever grateful for what God has done, is doing and will continue to do for them. The word he uses is the same as that for the Eucharist. Matthew relates how Jesus warns the Pharisees and Scribes who were too complacent, able to influence others to achieve their ambitions. His warning is for all in positions of power and influence, all those set in their ways, or even those, unthinkingly, just taking the easy path through life. How has God’s love for us, His vineyard, been reflected in the fruit we produce in our community, or in everyday contact with others? How do we deal with worry? Do we do what Paul advises, and turn it all over to the Lord? | ||

THE SUNDAY CAFÉ IS OPEN. All are welcome to the Sunday Café after Mass. All are encouraged to give donations to cover expenses and help towards charity.
POPE FRANCIS ASKS FOR OUR PRAYERS, to have the Holy Spirit guide the Synod in listening to the church, and responding to worries, concerns, experience and hopes for the Church on Earth.

CIRCLE OF FRIENDS.
The group restarted successfully with a good turnout. The preparation meetings for Confirmation continues this Wednesday evening, 11th October 2023. The classes for both children and their parents will take place in the church at 6:30pm. Every child who is preparing the receive the Sacrament of Confirmation must attend the classes and must be represented at the Parents’ class.

Anyone interested in setting up a social committee are invited to contact Fr Francis or Phil Divers, with a view to holding a meeting. All welcome. Thanks to those who have already ‘signed up’.
CHURCH & CHAPEL HOUSE REPAIR FUND
Parishioners are asked to place their donations in the purpose-built box, for this purpose, at the back of the church. The recent heavy rains have not been kind to the structures, and the water has unfortunately found new points of access. Thank you.

SPUC – GLASGOW TORCHLIGHT PROCESSION Please join the procession Thursday 26th October commemorate 56 years since the passing of the 1967 Abortion Act, and the loss of more than 10 million lives in the UK. All are welcome to this solemn and prayerful event, praying for an end to abortion.
