ST VINCENT DE PAUL – SSVP Society of St Jude’s Church are looking for
new members to join. At present there are only three members. If you are
interested in joining the Society please speak to Father Francis.
NOVEMBER LISTS – The November lists are still available at the back of
the church. Please feel free to add the name of your deceased relatives.
The lists will be placed on the altar during the month of November, and the
dead will be prayed for at each mass.
WEAR A WHITE POPPY, REMEMBER ALL VICTIMS OF WAR.
Please wear a white poppy in memory of EVERYONE
affected by war and to show your commitment to peace. In the run up to
Remembrance Day, white poppies will be available at the back of the
church.
Reduce – Re-use – Recycle
The Justice and Peace Group would like to thank you for using our small
recycling station in the Church Porch. It’s important to do all we can to
preserve the health of our planet. A
re-use where we can (rather than throw away) recycle all that we can. At
Present our Re-cycling Station in the Church Porch takes: –
Batteries though many shops now also recycle these. Ink cartridges
recycled by the British Red Cross with a contribution made to charity.
(PAIH) Light bulbs, only the Energy Saving bulbs as they contain a very
small amount of mercury and should not go to landfill. Writing Instruments –
pens, mechanical pencils and refills; highlighters, felt tip pens, whiteboard
and permanent markers. These will be recycled through Ryman’s
Stationery shops. You can even take along your own collection if you wish!
Ryman has recycled over 3.5 million pens since 2019 Unfortunately we no
longer recycle Spectacles as fewer and fewer opticians take part in this
scheme. Neither do we recycle Mobile Phones
RECYCLE DUVETS – If anyone has any old duvets they do not want,
Helen Marcowich will happily take them. Helen will recycle any duvets
received. All donations will be appreciated these are used for stuffing for
cushions.
HOSPITAL – If a parishioner is going into hospital for surgery and wish to
receive the Sacrament of the Sick before admission, they should ask Father
Francis to administer it. If a parishioner has already been admitted and
wish to receive the Sacrament of the Sick, they or someone on their behalf
should ask the ward nurse to contact the on-call priest via the switchboard
as is the established practice. If the patient is at the end of life, the priest
will attend as soon as possible. If this is not the case, the priest will attend
to the patient at a suitable time.
ARCHDIOCESE NOTICES – Requiem Mass: For the faithful departed in
St Peter’s Cemetery Dalbeth, London Road, Glasgow. For all those who
are buried in the local cemeteries, or whose final committal was at
Daldowie Crematorium. Sunday 16 th November 2025 at 3:00pm. Car
parking by Good Shepherd Gate.
Flourish: Take home the new FREE edition of Flourish this weekend.
The November issue has something for everyone: a new boost to
evangelisation in parishes; a trip down memory lane with Irish priests who
have shaped Glasgow; an easy guide to Pope Leo’s first teaching
document on care for the poor, what happened when a Scottish singing star
met the Pope; and a special series of articles on November and
remembering our loved ones who have died. Why not take a copy for a
friend or relative who is not at Mass this Sunday, and drop it in on them? An
act of kindness and evangelisation!
SPRED: SPRED is a movement that works with children and adults who
have a learning disability to help them grow in faith and take part in our
parish communities. There are opportunities to join SPRED in various
locations across the Archdiocese of Glasgow. Dates for volunteer training
will be available in the coming weeks. If you are interested in volunteering
or know someone who could benefit from SPRED’s support, please contact

Notre Dame High School Reunion: Calling All Old/Young Gals from
1970’s/80’s Notre Dame High, Dowanhill. Anyone of this era out there?
Our fabulous music teachers Mrs Alison Hunter and Mrs Violet Baillie are
travelling to the Royal Concert Hall Cafe from Bridge of Allan and Dumfries
respectively for a ‘spontaneous ‘drop in ‘reminiscence session’ on Friday
28 th November from 13:30. It would be fabulous to see as many of us as
possible even if only for a few minutes. Promise not to ‘burst into song’ on
this occasion but reconnecting will be such fun. Hopefully exchange happy
memories on 28 th November.
