GOD’S WORD FOR US TODAY
Reading 1: Ex 3: 1-8 (God reveals the meaning of his name – the faithful one – to Moses)
God will remain faithful to his people and free them, through Moses, from slavery in Egypt.
Resp. Ps. (102): The love of the Lord, the everlasting love, blesses us all.
Reading 2: 1 Cor 10: 1-6, 10-12
Though God freed his people and cared for them in the desert, many abandoned God and lost their sense of identity. We should be careful that we don’t fall away from Christ who has won the fullness of life for us.
Gospel Acc: Glory to you, O Christ, you are the Word of God.
Repent, says the Lord, the kingdom of heaven is close at hand. Repent, says the Lord, the kingdom of heaven is near.

Gospel : Lk 13: 1-9
God is always patient with us, like the owner of the fig tree. But we never know when we will die – it could be in an accident. And so it’s important that we always maintain our friendship with God. Reflect: How do I maintain my friendship with God?

COVID RESTRICTIONS UPDATE
Parishes may now return to all pre-pandemic activities and practices, except that we are still required to wear face masks. The Bishops wish us to be sensitive as we move out of restrictions, and so they ask that we:
- Respect the space of fellow parishioners;
- Continue to sanitise hands on entering Church and before distributing Holy Communion;
- Continue to ensure good ventilation in churches, and use confessionals only if they are well ventilated;
- Respect those who may not yet feel comfortable with handshaking at the Sign of Peace.
RUSSIA and EUKRAINE CONSECRATED to OUR LADY
On Friday, March 25th, the feast of the Annunciation, Pope Francis will consecrate Ukraine and Russia to Our Lady at 4:00 pm. All parishioners are asked to say the Prayer of Consecration with the Pope at 4:00 pm. If the text of the prayer does not arrive in time, perhaps we can simply say a prayer for Ukraine and Russia at that time on Friday.

JUSTICE and PEACE GROUP
On behalf of the parish, the Justice and Peace Group has donated £250 from its funds to the Ukraine appeal. This will be doubled to £500.
PRAYER for PEACE
O Prince of Peace, once more we hear the guns of war and see the faces of frightened children. We pray for the people of Ukraine, that they may be granted peace; for the people of Russia, that they may demand peace; and for our own country, that we may be a positive part of peace-making in this world. O Prince of Peace, lead us from this dark time to a deeper understanding of the global human family, so that all may break bread together in the secure embrace of peace. Amen.

Thank you to the twenty people who came to the meeting on synodality for our parish and St Maria Goretti’s. Representatives from each parish in the deanery will meet on March 31st to collate all the responses. Margaret McElroy will represent our parish. The deanery report will be fed back to the parishes.
