| REFLECTION | ||
| The Church understands that it affected by the sins or failures of each of its members. Ezekiel’s job, as prophet, was certainly to point out the faults in the hope that the person would change their way. However, if ours are not occasionally pointed out to us by someone else, then we cannot start to change and heal. Paul, addressing the Romans, emphasises the basic Jewish rule – love your neighbour as yourself. Thus, loving our spouse will not lead to adultery but to a closer bonding. Matthew, suggests a foolproof process, mentioned in the Dead Sea Scrolls from Qumran. From the community (and Jesus is in our church community), a group will be nominated to confront the sinner, pointing out the error of their ways, in the hope that they will take heed and reconcile to the community. If not, they are to shunned, treated as outsiders, and no longer part of the community. Next weeks gospel instructs us to forgive without limit. How would you react to having your error(s) aired in public? Will shame, painful isolation, and anger prevail, or instead will the reaction be a readiness to admit failure, to make amends and to turn back to Christ’s forgiveness? | ||

CHURCH & CHAPEL HOUSE REPAIR FUND Recent matters have underlined the need for major repairs to prevent further water damage to both church and presbytery (chapel house). Without viable alternative means of funding, it is planned, initially, to have a box for donation purposes set up at the back of the church, with weekly updates, of income received, published in the bulletin.
