TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YEAR C) FOURTH SUNDAY OF THE SEASON OF CREATION
GOD’S WORD FOR US TODAY
Reading 1: Amos 6: 1, 4-7 (Those who sprawl and those who bawl will be exiled)
The prophet Amos fiercely condemns social injustice – and especially those who trample on and exploit the needy and impoverished.
Psalm (145) My soul give thanks to the Lord.
Reading 2: 1 Timothy 6: 11-16 (You must aim to be saintly)
St Paul urges us to lives of prayer. What might his mean for you?
Gospel Acc: Alleluia, alleluia! Jesus Christ was rich, but he became poor for your sake, to make you rich out of his poverty. Alleluia . . . .
Gospel : Lk 16: 19-31
Jesus tackles head on the perennial challenge of wealth and poverty. Some wealthy people are so preoccupied with their wealth that they don’t even see the poor. Reflect: If this was a conversation between Jesus and yourself, what area of your life might Jesus challenge? Who or what might be invisible to you – and why?

OCTOBER, THE MONTH OF THE ROSARY
By tradition the Catholic Church dedicates certain months to particular devotions. October is dedicated to the Rosary, and people are encouraged to say the Rosary during this month, particularly on October 7th, which is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Perhaps we could particularly pray the Rosary for peace in the world.

The feast of St Jude is celebrated in the Church on October 28th. Since this is a Friday, the parish will celebrate the feast after the Sunday Mass on October 30th. We are asking parishioners to donate gifts for the tombola and to place them in the baskets which will be at the back of the Church from next Sunday. They may also be given to Margaret McElroy. Thank you! Let’s make an effort to celebrate one of the patron saints of our parish.

PRAYER FOR PEACE
We continue to pray for peace between Russia and Ukraine, and that we may become people of peace.
O Prince of Peace, once more we hear the guns of war; once more we see the faces of frightened children. We pray for the people of Ukraine, that they may be granted peace. We pray for the people of Russia, that they may demand peace. We pray for our country, that we may be a positive part of peace-making in this world. O Prince of Peace, lead us from this dark time to a deeper understanding of the global human family, so that all may break bread together In the secure embrace of peace. Amen.
