Confessions: Before Sunday Mass
FATHER FRANCIS – DEPARTURE – Father Francis’ last mass will be on Easter Sunday 5th April 2026. St Maria Goretti have already planned to have a celebration for him after his last mass in their parish and we in St Jude and St John Ogilvie parish are having a celebration after our mass on Palm Sunday 29th March 2026. Father will arrange cover for St Maria Goretti for that Sunday.
There are envelopes in the porch if you wish to contribute towards his going away presentation. There is a box beside the envelopes where you can place your donation.
If anyone who can help by bringing food or refreshments for the celebration after mass on Palm Sunday it would be appreciated. Please speak to Margaret McElroy if you have any further questions.
PRIESTLY COVER AFTER FATHER FRANCIS’ DEPARTURE – The Archbishop has appointed Father Frank Balmer, the parish priest of St Paul’s Church, Shettleston, as administrator of St Jude and St John Ogilvie Parish once Father Francis leaves. Father John Gannon, Parish Priest of St Philomena Church will be administrator of St Maria Goretti Church. We wish both priests well in their new roles.
JUSTICE AND PEACE – Lent Campaign
A few of us from Justice and Peace Group visited the Halliday Centre to deliver our parish donations. We were very warmly welcomed and heartily thanked for the bags of donations we delivered. They asked us to let everyone know what they offer at their Centre in Whitevale Street so we’ve posted a weekly timetable on the board at the back of the church if anyone is interested.
They host a free three course meal in their centre every Friday and asked us to publicise that they also host one here in the Barlanark Community centre every second Thursday giving those who need it or want it an opportunity to meet people, socialise in a warm place, share food and share community. I think there’s also entertainment laid on!
They also run a HousestoHomes project helping people set up home for a first time, so they welcome donations of household goods, furniture, bedding, cutlery, crockery etc. This is good to know for anyone who is clearing out or replacing pieces of furniture, household goods etc.
We’ll continue collecting food, toiletries (which they are particularly short of) and any other donations you’d like to make until the end of lent.
Sacramental Preparation
Ten of our children make the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturday at 10am. Please keep them and their families in your prayers.

AGAP Theatre: God’s Architect: It is with regret that we must announce the cancellation of our 3 Fringe Preview Performances of “Gaudi: God’s Architect”, which were due to take place 26th-28th March in Glasgow. Due to unforeseen circumstances, these performances have been cancelled. Please see the website for dates of future performances. Apologies for any inconvenience. All tickets purchased will be refunded.

Abba’s Vineyard: Adoration night. Come and adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, with the theme of Lazarus. The evening also includes the opportunity for confession, mass and dinner. Glasgow Street Pastors – Commonwealth Games: Glasgow Street Pastors are offering the exciting opportunity to be part of the support to this year’s Commonwealth Games and to see a little of our work from the inside and during daylight. The Games take place from 23rd July to 2nd August. We are looking for volunteers to be “Games Pastors”. Church volunteers from around Glasgow will serve on short daytime / evening shifts alongside experienced Street Pastors. The emphasis is on meeting visitors to the city, giving directions, engaging in conversation and making people feel welcome. We are also looking for people to pray over this period and if you can help this would be much appreciated.
