| Proverbs praises the ‘Perfect wife’, and the Old Testament had many strong, faithful women. Christ treated all women as equal, not just his Mother, disciples and followers. Paul mentions many involved in ministry, and his first convert in Europe was Lydia. Paul advises the new Christians at Thessalonica that the timing of the Second Coming and the Final Judgement is unpredictable, so that they should always be prepared for them, as far as is possible. Matthew gives the fourth successive parable, warning his hearers of the final judgement. The householder, the steward, the foolish virgins were all found wanting. Here a lazy slave fails to do his duty for his long absent Master. How do we value women in our lives? How prepared are we for His Coming, and ending up face to face with God in Judgement? Are we really comfortable in putting off something so vitally important? | ||

DIAMOND JUBILEE OF ST BERNARD’S, NITSHILL. The parish celebrates the 60 years with a pontifical mass by Archbishop Nolan, at 12:00 noon on Sunday, 3rd December 2023.
FEAST: PRESENTATION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY Christian tradition holds that as a three-year-old, Mary was dedicated to the service of God and left in the Temple, to be raised as a consecrated virgin. Her parents, St Joachim, and St Anne, had struggled with childlessness and made a vow to give her back to God. This proved a fitting apprenticeship for the future Mother of God, for Mary would learn to always put God first. Her Feast is celebrated this Tuesday, the 21st November 2023.
MEET YOUR NEIGHBOUR Saturday 25th November. An opportunity to walk with friends and neighbours and visit our neighbouring places of worship in the West End. 2:00 pm – Meet at St Aloysius, Rose Street, 2:30 pm – Synagogue, Garnethill, 3:00 pm – St Andrew’s West, 3:30 pm – Mosque, Carrington Street, 4:00 pm – Mandir, La Belle Place, 4:30 pm – Buddhist Centre, Berkeley Street, 5:00 pm – Gurdwara, Berkeley Street. At each place of worship, we will be told a story before moving on, finishing at the Gurdwara, where we will enjoy a vegetarian meal, together. All are welcome.
