PENTECOST – Final Sunday of Easter (YEAR A)
28th MAY 2023 – WHITE
The love of God has been poured into our hearts, through the Spirit of God dwelling within us.
| R 1 | Acts 2:1-11 | They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak. |
| Psalm | 103 | Send forth your Spirit, Lord; send your spirit to renew the earth; Send forth your Spirit, Lord; renew the face of the earth. |
| R 2 | 1 Corinthians 12:3-7,12-13 | In the body he was put to death, in the spirit he was raised to life. |
| Alleluia | Acclaim the Gospel | Alleluia. Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Alleluia. |
| Gospel | Jn 20:19-23 | As the Father sent me, so am I sending you: receive the Holy Spirit. |
| REFLECTION |
| Since the first Pentecost there has been no holding back the Holy Spirit as it breaks the artificial barriers between the peoples of our world. Looking around our own church we see a great variety of people. Each has their own unique gifts to contribute to the community, especially perhaps our crying babies. Let us rejoice that together we make up the Body of Christ on earth. Christ is our peace, in opposition to the worry, strife, envy, jealousy and self-seeking ambition of the world we live in. The Lord’s Prayer reminds us always to forgive others or we will block Christ’s forgiving of us; and where would we be then? How do we experience His Peace? How willing are we really to forgive others that hurt us? |

THE MONTH OF JUNE IS DEDICATED TOTHE SACRED HEART OF JESUS. We honoured Mary during the month of May, especially by reciting the Rosary. Mary points us to Jesus and counsels us to do what He tells us, just as she did at the wedding feast in Cena, all those centuries ago. The feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, is the second Sunday after Pentecost, falling this year on the 19th June 2023. The whole month is specially dedicated, therefore, to His Most Sacred Heart.
