THE THIRD SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME (YEAR A) (p.501)
22nd JANUARY 2023 – SUNDAY OF THE WORD OF GOD
O sing a new song to the Lord; sing to the Lord, all the earth.
In His presence are majesty and splendour, strength and honour in His holy place.
| R 1 | Isaiah 8:23-9:3 | In Galilee of the Nations the people have seen a great light. |
| Psalm | 26 | The Lord is my light and my help. |
| R 2 | 1 Corinthians 1:10-13, 7 | Make up differences between you rather than disagreeing among yourselves |
| Acclaim | Alleluia, alleluia! … Jesus proclaimed the Good News of the kingdom and cured all kinds of sickness among the people … Alleluia! | |
| Gospel | Matthew 4:12-23 | He went and settled in Capernaum: in this way the prophecy of Isaiah was fulfilled |
Reflect: Jesus announced the Good News, called everyone to repentance, to a change of mind. He chose and called His first disciples. Our Saviour showed such energy and enthusiasm. How enthusiastic is our response to His call?

We remember all those who have died recently, especially Betty Cowan & Peter Kane; and all those whose anniversaries occur at this time.
Eternal rest give unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

DONATING OUR EXCESS EDIBLES TO THE HOMELESS. No need to buy just give your excess baskets have been left at the back of the church, and anything collected will be delivered to the Glasgow homeless. This project started a few years back when someone asked if church members could ‘relieve’ them of excess edible gifts, once all the festivities were over.
