GOD’S WORD FOR US TODAY
Behold, the Lord, the Mighty One, has come; and kingship is in His grasp, and power and dominion.

Gospel: Matthew 2:1-12 The visit of the Magi.
Reflect: Reason helped the Wise Men to find Christ, the Light of the World, but only divine revelation enabled them to recognise Him. How could we seek Jesus, Emmanuel (God-with-us)?

Alicia McBennett, Frances McColl, N’Zi Benoh Arsene, Fr John Fraser of the Comboni Missionaries, Fr Joseph Clements, Cleland, and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI; and all those whose anniversaries occur at this time, including Archbishop Philip Tartaglia.
Eternal rest give unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

CHRISTMASTIDE GIVES WAY TO ORDINARY TIME
Ordinary Time, which makes up the majority of the Church year, starts on Tuesday 10th after the feast of the Baptism of Jesus on Monday. This new season gradually unveils Christ in all His mystery. Thus, we can better appreciate His unconditional love for us. Green is the colour of the season. The Gloria is now said or sung on Sundays, feasts, and solemnities. The Creed is recited on Sundays and solemnities. Funerals can now be performed on any day, except on a Holiday of Obligation.

During the absence of Father Francis his duties are being carried out by Fr Javier from the Comboni Missionaries. He can be contacted on 07474 568 837. Fathers Vincent and Desmond of the SMMM Fathers (St Barnabas’ and St Mark’s) will take up these duties later. Please welcome and support their service.

UKRANIAN MASSES
A priest of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Eparchy of Great Britain will celebrate the Divine Liturgy in the Ukrainian Rite in St Patrick’s, 137 William Street, G3 8UR. on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th January, at 12 noon each day. It is hoped that this will be the start of something more regular and will contribute to the pastoral care of the many Ukrainians who have sought safety here in Glasgow

DONATING OUR EXCESS TO THE HOMELESS
For those who have excess tins or boxes of biscuits, sweets, chocolates, etc. and would like to be relieved of them, we will leave baskets at the back of the church, and anything collected will be delivered to the Glasgow homeless. Please do not go out and buy anything for this collection. It was begun a few years back when someone asked if we could ‘relieve’ them of excess edible gifts once the festivities were over.
