Today is the mass of ENROLMENT for children for the First Communicants.
All parents who would like their child to be enrolled in the parish Sacramental Preparation Programme in order to prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion or Confirmation in 2022, should contact the parish with your name and contact details, your child’s Name and date of birth. NOVEMBER LISTS should now be returned, the names of all the deceased on the lists will be prayed for at every mass during November. The lists are placed on the Altar.
MASS FOR THE SICK – Will be held on Saturday 27th November at 10.00 all and the Sacrament of the Sick will be administered during this mass but anyone who wants to attend the mass is most welcome whether or not they wish to receive the Sacrament of the Sick. If you know of anyone who would like to receive the Sacrament, please invite them to come along. There will be refreshments served in the hall after mass.

96th Anniversary of the Death of Ven. Margaret Sinclair – Memorial Mass to pray for her Beatification & Canonisation, St. Brendan’s Church, 187 Kelso St., Yoker, Glasgow G13 4BH on 24th November at 7pm. Due to the Covid restrictions, we have been unable to celebrate the annual pilgrimage to St. Patrick’s in Edinburgh. On behalf of the Committee for the promotion of her Cause, I would warmly invite all who can manage to come to this Mass and pray for our still awaited miracle. Whilst the late Mgr. Peter smith was absolutely convinced that her intercession had saved his life a couple of years before his death, the ‘miracle’ was not sufficient to meet the criterion of a ‘First Class Miracle’ required by the Church. - celebrate the God-given talents and achievements of our young people;
- acknowledge the hard work and faith witness of the staff in our schools;
- mark the unique contribution that Catholic Education makes to our families, our parishes and to wider Scottish society; and reflect on the mission of the Catholic school for the future.
Affirming Christ’s Kingship – Today is the last Sunday of the liturgical year, Catholics celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King. A relative newcomer to the Church calendar — established in the 20th century — this feast is designed to give special recognition to the dominion Christ our Lord has over all aspects of our lives.
When Cardinal Ambrogio Achille Ratti was elected pope and took the name Pope Pius XI, much of the world was in shambles. The year was 1922, and while the bloodletting of World War I (1914-1918) had ended, widespread peace and tranquility were not evident.
The war to end all wars had been especially devastating. Governments were in economic chaos, unemployment was rampant and people in many places were literally starving to death.
Many considered the basics of morality and the teachings of the Church to be out of date, no longer relevant in 20th-century society. Modern thinking allowed that, at most, Christ might be king in the private life of the individual, but certainly not in the public world.
In all these developments, the new Pope Pius XI saw that people were denying Christ in favour of a lifestyle dominated by secularism, material advantage and false hope created by the tyrants.
On 11 Dec. 1925, and in order to acknowledge perpetually the supremacy of Jesus Christ over all men, nations and earthly allegiances, the pope issued the encyclical Quas Primas, which added the feast of “Our Lord Jesus Christ the King” to the annual Church liturgical calendar..
