Confessions: Before Sunday Mass
LENT – Starts on Wednesday of this week and we will have Stations of the Cross every Friday during lent. There is a list at the back of the church to sign up to lead the Stations of the Cross. Please consider helping. Ash Wednesday is a day of Fasting and Abstinence. The Easter duties may be fulfilled between Ash Wednesday and Trinity Sunday.
A special collection will be taken up for Sick and Retired Priests on the Sundays of Lent (except the 4th Sunday which is for SCIAF)
JUSTICE AND PEACE – Wednesday next week begins for us the Holy Season of Lent, our preparation period before the Great Feast of Easter. In Lent we are challenged to Pray more, to Fast in whatever way is most meaningful for us and to Give Alms or reach out to those less fortunate than ourselves. In response to that last challenge the Justice and Peace Group would like to invite the parish to join them once again in supporting the Halliday Foundation, an East End group we supported in 2024.

We support individuals and families who are experiencing multiple and complex challenges, including those affected by homelessness, mental health issues, addiction recovery, gender-based violence, trafficking, long-term unemployment, and severe financial hardship.
We are now operating out of Reidvale Community Centre, giving us a strong base in the heart of the community. From here, we’re driving forward a wide range of programmes and making significant progress across our services, ensuring that support is accessible, inclusive, and responsive to local needs.”

As a result we would ask that on the 1st Sunday of Lent (February 22nd) we collect tins – tins of beans, peas, chopped tomatoes, any other tinned vegetables, soups, tinned meats, tinned fish, tinned desserts eg custard, rice, tinned fruit, etc,

Teams of young people (18+) head out onto the streets of Glasgow, inviting passers-by into St Aloysius’ Church to light a candle and spend a moment in quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Pro-Life Mass: This month’s Pro-Life Mass falls on Ash Wednesday, 18th February. Mass will therefore be at the earlier time of 7pm at Holy Cross, 113 Dixon Ave, G42 8ER. There will be Adoration from 6pm. Please come along and start your Lenten journey praying for the cause of life.

If you Gift Aid your collection, we can claim back from the government 25p for every £1 you donate. Any persons who want to sign up should speak to Father Francis to complete the appropriate form which is basically just your name address and NI number.
